Purpose

Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols for ultrasound. Functions as the first line interface with the patient in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

Employee authorization for access to EPHI is determined by the job function and is under the direction of his/her Department Director or Nurse Manager

Job Knowledge/Experience

They are responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of ultrasound equipment. Be able to prepare patients for ultrasounds. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of established protocols, anatomy, and equipment. The ability to adapt to changing of work environment. Proficiency with most major ultrasound equipment. Performs two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs. Able to work independently and multitask.

  • Actively participates in department1s CQI activities.

  • CPR
  • Possesses a high level of knowledge of anatomy medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with ultrasound equipment
  • Provide training and guidance for the orientation of new staff and students
  • Selects a transducer and adjust the equipment controls according to the organs to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test.
  • Enters test data and patients information into computer equipment to maintain record of the test results
  • Moves transducer by hand, over specified area of the body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
