Purpose

Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with the patient in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

Employee authorization for access to EPHI is determined by the job function and is under the direction of his/her Department Director or Nurse Manager

As part of the overall duties of the Director of Radiology, it is a responsibility of my job to determine the job function of the employees under my direction, as to protect EPHI and assign logins accordingly.

Employee will be required to be readily available to work during any weather related incidents or other natural disasters and/or any emergency situation that may arise.

Position Education/Qualifications

Graduate of accredited school Radiology

CPR

ARRT certification

Job Knowledge/Experience

They are responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of radiographic equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation to patients. Be able to prepare patients for x-rays, special procedures, and fluoroscopy exams. Run all radiographic protocols in the x-ray department and portables when needed. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedures. Injects contrast for special procedures. Run c-arm in the OR. Able to work independently and multitask. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of established protocols, anatomy, and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Run all x-ray radiographic procedures and protocols in the x-ray/OR department
  • Communicate effectively with wide variety of individuals
  • Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements for Radiology Technician.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
  • Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties; maintains PAR levels.
  • Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Attends annual Hospital Review and department in services, as scheduled.
  • Attends at least __ staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Maintains Wayne Memorial Hospital requirements, policies and standards of confidentiality.
  • Actively participates in department1s CQI activities.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of Wayne Memorial Hospital -
  • CPR
  • Special procedures: IVP’s, hysterosalpingograms, tomograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms, and any OR procedures with c-arm
  • Provide training and guidance for the orientation of new staff and students
  • Determine most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
